A Matter of Mantra: "I Spend Mindfully"

Hello and thank you for visiting Waggish Writer.

This is the seventh blog post from a series of my journalist persona known as "A Matter of Mantra."

This post will talk about how the mantra listed in the title came into my life and how it helps me. My hope is that if this mantra resonates with you that you may use it to help live your life to the fullest.

WHERE DID MY MANTRA COME FROM

So many of my worries centered on money. It stem from my life of comfortable with little to no experience in earning an income until college. With my worry, I worried I was spending too much money on things. Working with Charlotte Kaye, she proposed to me the new mantra: 'I spend mindfully.'

Hence, "I Spend Mindfully" inserted itself into my life.

HOW MY MANTRA HELPS ME

It took me a while to think about how I spend my money. I realize that I am extremely mindful. I focus on getting groceries and gas. The times I splurged was usually a meal out, a pint of ice cream, and small trinkets (candles, Otaku Magazine, and DND related items). Those times I splurged are few and far between. Also, I consistently split the amount of money I earned, so I never used all of my money.

No one works the same way, so I am not preaching this mantra to be a fool-proof method. It is a tool and option that is out there for those who struggle.

As a writer, I take time each time I journal to write "I Spend Mindfully" five times. Write it. Talk it. Draw it. Tackle this mantra any way that gets the message across for yourself.

If the mantra has helped in any way or the story resonates and you feel comfortable in sharing, make a comment below or feel free to Contact Me if you want it private. There is always a lurking fear of whether or not we should spend our money, especially in these strange times with COVID-19. Let's take time to look at how we use our money together.
