I lived in my parents’ shadow,
Always seeking permission,
Always fearful of their wrath,
Always shutting out my heart,
Since I lived in their shadow.
I’m breaking from their shadow,
Not asking for permission
Not breaking down from their wrath,
Not shutting out my heart’s voice
I’m breaking from their shadow.
I live outside their shadow,
Living with my permission,
Having courage from their wrath,
Embracing my heart’s calling,
I live outside their shadow.
Now, I look at their shadow,
Understanding permission,
Sensing love within their wrath,
Synchronizing with my heart,
Lessons learnt from their shadow.
